In an interesting development, Senator Faisal Vawda, while appearing on Geo News programme on May 19 (Monday), strongly lashed out at President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Mian Nawaz Sharif for his remaining silent during the recent Indian hostilities.
“There was criminal silence from Nawaz Sharif [during the war with India], and criminal silence from the TikTok government. Everyone saw and felt that silence,” stated the outspoken senator, often known for making political forecasts.
It merits a mention that India unleashed a series of hostilities by blaming Pakistan for the Pahalgam incident, which claimed 26 lives in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Modi-led extremist government has made it a tradition to blame Pakistan for its own security failures and start hostilities against Pakistan to beat up the drums of war, among their voter base.
On the night of May 7, India attacked Pakistan by launching airstrikes on civilians, which led to the martyrdom of more than 30 civilians.
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully engaged and destroyed at least 6 Indian aircraft while staying in its territory after the Indian Air Force launched missiles at Pakistani civilians.
Utterly humiliated and hysterical, the Indian armed forces continued to attack – drones and artillery fire – Pakistan in the coming nights out of fear of Pakistani reprisal, which the DG ISPR had promised.
On May 10, India launched further attacks inside Pakistan by launching ballistic missiles at Nur Khan Airbase and two other military targets.
Pakistan then launched its retaliatory Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (Wall of Lead) by destroying multiple military targets through missiles, air strikes, and drones.
India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on the same day Pakistan launched its retaliatory operation, brokered by the US President Donald Trump.
Nawaz Sharif’s reaction to ceasefire
Nawaz Sharif also took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the nation and armed forces of Pakistan while commending the leadership of the COAS and Prime Minister.
Vawda pointed out the apparent silence by Nawaz Sharif during the war against India. Journalist Hamid Mir asked the senator’s opinion on PML-N leaders claiming that Nawaz Sharif was managing the crisis with India, to which he replied, “Look, they are uneducated and unaware. TikTok governments have these kinds of conversations.”
Punjab’s Minister for Information, Azma Bukhari, stated that the entire military operation against India was designed under the supervision of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
“On May 10, Nawaz Sharif, in coordination with the Prime Minister, played a pivotal role in safeguarding the country. The entire response operation against India was planned under his guidance,” she claimed last week.
