In an interested development, founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has directed the removal of senior advocate Faisal Chaudhry from the party’s legal counsel on Tuesday.
According to details, PTI’s secretary general, Salman Akram Raja, met with Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, informing the former premier about Chaudhry’s statements.
Following that fateful meeting, Imran Khan ordered the expulsion of Faisal Chaudhry from his party’s legal team. Chaudhry has been also removed from the PTI lawyers’ WhatsApp group.
Chaudhry had been a senior advocate, often, quoting Khan and his messages while talking to the media. All the cases assigned to him and all other legal matters have been withdrawn from him.
Chaudhry’s removal from PTI comes a day after Faisal Chaudhry appeared on Dunya News programme, “Dunya with Mehar Bukhari”, on March 25.
Chaudhry while talking to journalist remarked that lawyers, including Salman Akram Raja, do not have any experience of doing politics.
He further remarked: “PTI supporters have only one question: When will Imran Khan come out of prison? Our lawyers should understand the situation and give statements cautiously. Sometimes irresponsible remarks disturb our allies”
Chaudhry also stated that all efforts to create a forward block within PTI would remain unsuccessful.
Last month, Faisal Chaudhry was briefly detained outside Adiala Jail after a heated argument with jail staff.
His brother and ex-PTI member Fawad Chaudhry took to X (formerly Twitter) to condemn Faisal’s arrest.
A video footage got viral on social media in which Faisal Chaudhry could be seen hurling abuses during an argument with jail official. The issue arose when Chaudhry, who had been granted prior access to visit Imran Khan, was denied entry at the prison gates.
He later suggested that he was being targeted by authorities because he delivered Imran Khan’s message to the public.
