Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Friday called for every sector of Pakistan’s economy to contribute towards export growth, stressing the need for an export-driven approach to achieve long-term economic stability.

Speaking at the Made in Gujranwala Expo 2025 in Islamabad, Aurangzeb said that the country must shift its economic focus towards tapping international markets. “Every sector must take part in boosting exports,” he said, adding that several locally made products have the potential to compete globally and evolve into international brands.

The minister described markets in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Africa as promising opportunities for Pakistani exports. He said these regions offer significant potential for expansion and should be actively explored by local industries.

Aurangzeb praised the range and quality of goods displayed at the expo, saying they reflect the growing capability of Pakistan’s manufacturing sector. He stressed that, with the right support and policies, these products could perform well in global markets.

He also reiterated the government’s plans to enhance trade infrastructure, including the establishment of an Expo Centre in Islamabad. “This will provide a platform for business chambers across the country to connect, raise awareness locally, and support export efforts,” he said.

The minister’s remarks come as the government continues to push for increased industrial output and a reduction in import dependency.

The three-day event showcases over 100 exhibitors from various industries, including ceramics, metal, cutlery, sanitaryware, plastic goods, home appliances, and agriculture-related products.

Among those present at the opening ceremony were the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, the Ambassador of Morocco to Pakistan, and senior representatives from chambers of commerce.
