Elon Musk says he regrets recent comments about Trump

Billionaire Elon Musk has said that he regrets his recent comments about United States President Donald Trump.

In a post on X, Musk said, “I regret some of my posts about President Trump. They went too far.”

He also tagged the president in his post.

Elon Musk had made a series of extraordinary attacks on Trump, including an unsubstantiated claim that his administration refused to release files on Jeffrey Epstein to conceal the president’s involvement with the late financier and convicted sex offender.

In response, Trump said the “easiest way” to cut spending would be to cancel the contracts and subsidies awarded to Musk’s companies, which include electric carmaker Tesla and rocket company SpaceX.

In an interview, Trump said he assumed his relationship with Musk was over and that he had no interest in mending ties.

“I have no intention of speaking to him,” Trump said.

“I think it’s a very bad thing, because he’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the president”, he added.

US Vice President JD Vance said he hoped that “eventually Elon comes back into the fold” but that it might be difficult considering the billionaire went “nuclear”.

Most Republicans have called for the two men to reconcile. While Democrats have watched the feud unfold.
