World’s richest person and United States (US) President Donald Trump’s close aide, Elon Musk has sent emails to the federal workers, asking them to list their accomplishments from the past week or resign.

In a post on X, Elon revealed details about the email and clearly mentioned that: “Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”

According to international media, employees were asked to explain their accomplishments from the past week in five bullet points “without disclosing classified information.” They need to submit this work before 11:59 pm EST on Monday.

It’s not clear what legal grounds Musk has to fire government workers if they don’t do what he asks.

Role of Elon Musk in Trump administration

Elon Musk is in charge of The Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), which is not a real government body but has made a lot of changes to the US federal infrastructure with Trump’s approval.

In the past few weeks, thousands of government workers have been fired from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Pentagon and other organisations.

Trump has repeatedly applauded Musk’s cost-cutting measures.

According to Trump, Musk is doing a “great job” in reducing the size of the federal government, and that he would like to see him “get more aggressive” in the pursuit.

While Elon Musk has Trump‘s support, there are many reports that people within the administration don’t like the billionaire.
