After Islamabad, authorities seize donkey meat in KP

Authorities have arrested two people in the Kuza Banda area of Battagram District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) over slaughtering and selling donkey meat.

According to Battagram police, samples of the recovered meat have been sent to a laboratory for analysis.

The accused maintain that the donkey meat was intended to be sent to foreign camps.

According to DFC Shad Muhammad Khan, no permit has been found with the suspects.

They also say that there is no evidence yet of this meat being sold locally.

Donkey Meat Saga

Previously, citizens of Islamabad were shocked when news broke out that Food Authority officials had raided a warehouse which had over 900kgs of donkey meat.

The authority conducted a raid in the small town of Islamabad, Tarnol.

According to reports, the illegalmeat was supposed to be supplied abroad.

The meat is now being disposed of by the Islamabad Food Authority.

The department’s director has started looking into this matter.

A foreign national person was also arrested as he was present at the scene.

Concerns regarding donkey meat in Pakistan

Earlier, during a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on National Food Security, it was alleged that the meat of donkeys, along with dogs and frogs, is being sold in Pakistan, and the practice is quite common.

The issue has raised some serious concerns and questions about food safety in the country.
