The donkey meat, which was seized by the Islamabad Food Authority, was never supplied to the local markets in the capital.
According to the latest reports, foreign nationals were running the setup and used to send the meat abroad, and some of the portion was given to the foreigners living in Pakistan, but never to the locals.
They also had a cold storage space in which they used to keep the donkey meat.
A butcher was also brought in from some other country, especially for this.
The authorities have now arrested those who were involved and recovered almost 50 donkeys that were alive from the site.
How much donkey meat was recovered?
1000 kg of donkey meat was recovered by the Islamabad Food Authority on Saturday.
The meat is now being disposed of by the authority.
The department’s director has started looking into this matter.
