A female gynecologist in Sindh mistakenly left one of the twin babies inside a woman’s womb after performing a Caesarean section, causing the demise of unborn baby and disability of the mother.
In a shocking medical negligence, Dr. Ambrane Khatti after performing the delivery operation of the mother failed to notice that she was carrying twins in Tando Muhammad Khan, Sindh.
The mother was later discharged from the hospital; however, her condition continued to deteriorate significantly. Without knowing, she kept the dead fetus inside her body for over two months.
When the mother’s condition worsened, she was taken to the hospital where multiple tests confirmed the presence of a dead fetus in her womb.
Upon this discovery, another highly critical surgery was performed to extract the dead baby from the mother’s body.
The woman’s father accused the female doctor and administration of causing her daughter’s permanent disability. He has demanded justice and compensation for her daughter’s suffering.
Meanwhile, District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Sadiq Memon has advised the family to file an official complaint against the doctor. Following the complaint, an investigation committee will inquire into the matter and take necessary action against those responsible for the horrible medical negligence.
Recent studies have revealed that a woman’s chance of experiencing pregnancy-related morbidity and death is increased dramatically after a cesarean delivery.
Many reports have also alleged that there is a rising trend in cesarean deliveries across the country mainly due to profit-driven agendas.
Evidence of a growing tendency has been observed in South Asian nations, including Pakistan, where the proportion of CS deliveries increased from 3.2% in 1990 to 20% in 2018.
