ISLAMABAD: In a large scale crackdown, Islamabad’s district administration and local police sealed nine Sheesha cafes during late night raids on Sunday. A total of 64 peopl including 60 men and four women, were arrested from these locations.

The joint operation was part of an ongoing campaign to enforce public safety laws in the capital city. Out of the nine sheesha cafes sealed, three were located in Bahria Town Islamabad. During the raid, authorities confiscated 110 hubble bubbles and various flavored tobacco products used for smoking sheesha.

According to officials, cases have been registered against all the arrested individuals, and a full investigation is now underway.

A representative from the police said that such operations will continue to ensure that public places follow all legal requirements. “We are taking strong action against indoor sheesha cafes operating without proper licenses or engaging in illegal activities,” a police spokesperson said.

This is not the first time such action has taken place. In a similar operation back in February 2025, police in Lahore raided a sheesha party at a private building in the Ghalib Market area. Twenty-four individuals were arrested, including five women. During that raid, authorities recovered four sheesha devices, several flavors, and a music system from the premises.

Residents are being urged to report any suspicious activities or unlicensed cafes to help support law enforcement in their efforts.
