China’s United Nations (UN) ambassador, Fu Cong, has said that Israel violated Iran’s sovereignty, security and “internal integrity”.
Fu said he is “particularly concerned” that Israel is attacking nuclear facilities, describing it as “another red line that Israel has crossed”.
He said Beijing opposes the expansion of conflicts in the Middle East and is deeply concerned about the consequences of Israel’s actions.
Pakistan on Israel’s attack on Iran
In his remarks to the emergency UN meeting, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, strongly condemned what he described as the “unjustified and illegitimate” aggression by Israel against Iran.
He reaffirmed that Islamabad stood in resolute solidarity with the Iranian government and its people.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan, China and Russia, supported the request for the emergency session.
Casualties in Israel and Iran
According to the Israeli broadcasting authority and The Associated Press news agency, two people died after Iran’s strikes.
At least 19 people are injured.
Meanwhile, after Israel’s attack on Iran, the Iranian state media said 78 people were killed in the capital alone and more than 300 injured.
The attacks, which began early on Friday, appear to have been carefully planned, hitting military and government targets and killing several senior military leaders – including the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami, and the chief of staff of the armed forces, Mohammad Bagheri. Prominent Iranian nuclear scientists are also among the dead.
