Car sales jump 18.3 per cent YoY despite monthly decline

Pakistan’s auto sector recorded a year-on-year growth of 18.3 per cent in March 2025, with total sales of cars, jeeps, vans, and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) reaching 11,098 units, according to data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) on Thursday. 

In comparison, 9,381 units were sold in March 2024. 

However, on a month-on-month basis, sales dropped by 8.2 per cent from 12,084 units sold in February 2025, reflecting a slowdown in momentum. 

During the first nine months of the current fiscal year (9MFY25), cumulative sales stood at 100,764 units — a significant rise of 45.9 per cent from 69,080 units recorded in the same period of FY24. 

Among all vehicle segments, cars in the ‘1300cc and above’ category recorded the highest number of sales in March 2025, with 4,485 units sold. 

Toyota remained the market leader in this segment, with combined sales of Corolla and Yaris at 2,378 units. Honda followed with 1,195 units of Civic and City, while Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Elantra recorded 596 and 212 units, respectively. 

The ‘Below 1000cc’ segment was the second-best performer, posting sales of 3,451 units during the month. Suzuki Alto dominated this category with 3,090 units sold, while Suzuki Bolan managed only 8 units. 

In the ‘1000cc’ category, a total of 194 units were sold in March. Suzuki Cultus and WagonR each accounted for 97 units.
