Julian Assange, WikiLeaks founder was present at Cannes 2025 for the documentary “The Six Billion Dollar Man”, which is about his life.

He walked on the red carpet wearing a white T-shirt which had names of 4,986 Palestinian children who were killed in Gaza by Israel. His shirt also included a sign of “Stop Israel” at the back.

It is pertinent to mention that this is Assange’s first major public appearance after his release from prison.

Many people praised him for this bold move at Cannes 2025, despite his recent release from jail and already being a target for many.

He spent five years behind bars fighting extradition from Britain and another seven holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where he claimed political asylum.

According to the director of The Six Billion Dollar Man, the documentary will correct the record about Assange.

Current situation in Gaza

Gaza is currently out of food and thousands of people including children are starving.

According to World Health Organisation, two million Palestinians are going hungry across Gaza, with at least 29 people, including children, dying from starvation-related causes.

Earlier, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) called for more aid to be allowed into Gaza.

” The supplies we have in Gaza to treat and prevent growing child malnutrition have declined rapidly since the aid blockade. They are almost gone,” Unicef said on X.

At least 326 deaths have been linked to malnutrition and lack of medicine since Israel began a total blockade of Gaza on March 2. There have been 300 miscarriages among pregnant women caused by nutritional deficiencies. At least 44,000 aid trucks were required during this period to meet the minimum basic needs of the population.
