In a significant development, former Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Mashal Yousafzai has confirmed her removal from the position of Bushra Bibi’s focal person.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyer Tabish Farooq has also confimed that Bushra Bibi removed Mashal Yousafzai from the position of spokesperson.

Mashal Yousafzai, considered close to Bushra Bibi, was removed from the position of Special Asisstant to Gandapur on November 30, 2024.

Interestingly, Yousafzai’s removal was followed by her interview on Geo News’ program Naya Pakistan, where she discussed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) November 24 protest and the role of Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan last year.

Speaking on the show, Yousafzai, who also serves as Bushra Bibi’s spokesperson, claimed that the former first lady had come under attack during the protest.

“This is correct that she didn’t want to leave the protest site,” Yousafzai stated, adding that direct firing on Bushra Bibi’s car and a chemical thrown on its windshield forced her to exit. “She was told that her car would be changed and that she would be brought back to the party workers, but I don’t know what happened after that,” she said.

She also denied reports that Bushra Bibi was in contact with party members or had chaired any political meetings after her return.

When asked about internal criticism over Bushra’s insistence on holding the protest at D-Chowk instead of Sangjani, Yousafzai claimed that Bushra was following Imran Khan’s directive. She recounted a discussion where Bushra insisted on speaking directly to Imran for confirmation before considering a change of venue. “She said she would have gone to Sangjani if Imran had ordered her,” Yousafzai added.

After her removal from KP cabinet last year, Yousafzai on Monday also confirmed his dismissal from position of Bushra Bibi’s spokesperson.

Bushra Bibi has chosen four individuals for this position including Naeem Panjotha, Mubashir Awan, Khalid Yousuf and Roy Salman.
