Founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, on Monday approached the Islamabad High Court seeking better prison facilities in Adiala Jail.

It merits a mention that Bushra Bibi was sentenced to 7 years in prison in the £190 million Al-Qadir Trust corruption case in January this year.

Imran Khan was convicted in the same case, while being given 15 years in prison. The verdict was announced by Justice Nasir Javed of the anti-corruption court within Adiala Jail.

Interestingly, the verdict had been deferred three times before until it was announced on January 13.

Khan and Bushra were also fined Rs1 million and Rs0.5 million, respectively. Furthermore, the court also ordered the sealing of Al-Qadir University land set by the former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In the petition filed by Bushra Bibi, it was stated that she had pleaded with jail authorities multiple times to provide better facilities in jail but her pleas went unheard.

The petition also stated that that Bushra Bibi be given the same facilities and privileges available to the founder PTI Imran Khan.

The petition has taken the position that Bushra Bibi should also be ordered to be provided with better facilities under the jail rules.

It should also be highlighted that following the transfer of £190 million to the national treasury, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on March 15 laid the foundation stone of Daanish University in Islamabad.

The amount was originally returned to Pakistan by the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), which was transferred to the Supreme Court’s treasury during founder Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s tenure.

The Al-Qadir Trust case alleged that Imran Khan provided a legal cover to the black money received from the UK in collusion with Malik Riaz.
