WEBDESK: The British Council Pakistan has officially cancelled all scheduled exams in Lahore due to the current security situation in the city. This includes important assessments like O-Level, A-Level, and IELTS tests, which were set to take place this week.
In a statement released on Thursday, British Council Pakistan said that the safety and well-being of students and staff is their top priority. “We understand this may be disappointing for many students, but this decision has been made in light of recent developments in Lahore,” the statement said.
Lahore has recently seen a rise in tension and disturbances following reports of cowardly Indian drone activity and related incidents earlier this morning.
British Council Pakistan assured students and parents that it is closely monitoring the situation. They are working on alternate arrangements and will soon provide information regarding the rescheduling of the cancelled exams.
According to their statement, “The decision to cancel the examinations was made with candidate safety as the primary concern.”
Previously, students had been advised to contact their respective schools or the Customer Services Centre, in the case of private candidates, for any exam-related queries.
The British Council has not yet announced when the cancelled examinations will be rescheduled.
Earlier, on Wednesday, the British Council Pakistan had announced that all exams would proceed as scheduled.
In a statement, they said, “We anticipate that all exams scheduled for Thursday 8 May 2025 will go ahead as planned if the security situation remains unchanged.
