Big terror plot foiled in Taunsa Sharif

The Counter Terrorism Department has said that it foiled a major terrorist plan near Taunsa Sharif.

Five dangerous terrorists were killed, while five others were injured and fled towards the nearby forest.

During the operation, the CTD recovered rifles, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, and other explosive materials from the scene.

The terrorists opened fire on the CTD team, prompting a swift retaliatory response.

Following the incident, the CTD has launched a search operation to track down the injured and fleeing terrorists.

Security heightened near Taunsa Sharif

Checkposts have been set up near Taunsa Sharif to prevent their escape.

The identification process of the killed terrorists is currently underway, according to CTD officials.

Muharram 9th is being observed today across Pakistan, with processions taking place in various cities.

In this regard, a large number of police officers have been deployed, and traffic plans have been issued. Traffic police officials will remain on duty to guide the public regarding alternative routes on Muharram 9th.

In Punjab, more than 38,000 Majalis and 9,200 mourning processions are expected. To ensure the safety of these religious gatherings, over 232,000 police officers and personnel are deployed, assisted by 38,000 volunteers working alongside security forces.

In Islamabad, police have identified 13 points as potential trouble spots, banned the entry of 17 “firebrand” ulema, and intensified intelligence operations.

The Punjab government has imposed restrictions under Section 144 across the province until Sunday.
