A suspected suicide attack targeting Frontier Corps (FC) convoy on Sunday took at least 7 innocent lives, including 3 FC personnel at Nushki-Dalbandin highway, Balochistan.

The banned terrorist organisation Balochitan Liberation Army has claimed the responsibility for the coordinated attack. According to security sources, BLA carried out an improvised explosive device (IED) attack and a suicide attack on the FC convoy in Noshki.

Security forces, in retaliation, killed three terrorists immediately excluding the suicide bomber who blew himself up.

“Security forces have cordoned off the area, blocking all escape routes of terrorists,” Radio Pakistan quoted security sources as saying. A clearance operation is reportedly underway in the area by security forces.

According to details, more than 30 FC soldiers have been seriously wounded in the attack while they have been transferred to Nushki hospital.

Initially, the death toll was 5 but two wounded individuals succumbed to their injuries, increasing the number of deaths to 7.

Furthermore, the injured were also being shifted to Quetta via helicopter as some of the wounded victims are in critical condition.

It should be highlighted that the security situation in Pakistan has been deteriorating significantly in the last three years, with Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa witnessing the most terrorist attacks.

Both these provinces share a border with Afghanistan – the neighbour country whom Pakistan blames for harboring terrorists.

The Noshki attack comes just a few days after BLA conducted an unprecedented attack on Jaffar Express near Bolan, making more than 300 passengers their hostage.

The incident drew major condemnations from across the nation and ally countries, including the United Nations.

The security forces, after a complex clearance operation, neutralised 33 attackers and rescued the hostage passengers.

Apart from five operational casualties, as many as 26 passengers were martyred by the terrorists, of which 18 were security personnel belonging to the Pakistan Army and the Frontier Corps (FC), three were officials from Pakistan Railways and other departments, and five were civilians.
