Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has ended its protest in Quetta.

According to BYC leadership, they will announce their future course of action in the morning (Sunday).

Earlier, First Information Report (FIR) was registered against BYC members for inciting violence, attacking hospitals and officials and holding violent protests. Several of them got arrested including Dr Mahrang Baloch.

Due to the clash, the group claimed that police killed three people of them and 13 others are suffering injuries while the police said that 10 of their personnel were hurt.

The BYC workers had staged the protest rally on the Sariab Road carrying banners and placards. They chanted slogans against the arrest of Bebarg Baloch and others.

A heavy contingent of police baton-charged them and used water cannon to dismantle the sit-in camp and disperse the crowd of Baloch Yakjehti Committee.

Govt reacts to Baloch Yakjehti Committee protest

Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said nobody would be allowed to take law in their own hands. “Government could not sit silent spectator if someone created a law and order situation and would fulfil its responsibilities for the protection of the life and property of the people”, he added.

According to Rind, BYC was protesting for the bodies of the culprits of last week’s Jaffar Express train attack.
