WEBDESK: After being closed for several months due to heavy snowfall, Babusar Top has finally reopened for traffic, marking the beginning of the summer travel season in northern Pakistan.

The scenic mountain pass, located at 13,700 feet above sea level, had been closed for around six to seven months during the harsh winter. This week, the National Highway Authority (NHA) completed snow-clearing operations, making the road safe for vehicles once again.

Babusar Top Reopens: What Travelers Need to Know Before Visiting

According to local officials, the reopening of Babusar Top has already started attracting tourists to the area. Travelers can now drive from Naran in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Chilas in Gilgit-Baltistan through the beautiful Kaghan Valley. The road is especially popular during the summer because of its stunning views, cool weather, and access to remote northern regions.

Security points have been set up throughout the route and at Besal to maintain the security of travelers. Since some areas above the snow melt can be unstable, authorities are indicating that drivers should use caution when driving.

On the Gilgit-Baltistan side, more than 21 glaciers had to be cleared along the route. The Diamer district administration also worked to remove snow and ice that had blocked the road for months. Thanks to these efforts, Babusar Top is now open from both directions.

Local businesses in Naran, including hotels, restaurants, and tour guides, are already seeing a rise in visitors. Many hope that this will boost the local economy, which depends heavily on seasonal tourism.

Now that Babusar Top is open, people traveling with families or seeking adventure are excited to see this amazing view. It is expected that many tourists will come to the event in the coming weeks.

Travelers are encouraged to check weather updates and road conditions before making the journey. While the route is now open, safety remains a top priority.
