Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati has revealed that the party has convinced Imran Khan to hold talks with the establishment.
“We requested him to open the channel for dialogue for the sake of Pakistan and future generations”, Swati said.
He added that in 2022 as well, they had convinced Imran Khan to engage in talks with the establishment, and since then, the doors have not been closed.
Azam Swati emphasised that this move should not be seen as a sign of weakness, but of strength.
Addressing Imran Khan’s followers, he assured them that Khan will never bow before anyone.
He also urged people not to interpret these talks as some kind of deal.
Azam Swati says talks with establishment will stay confidential
Earlier, Azam Swati revealed that Khan had tasked him with engaging in talks with the establishment and also instructed him to keep the details of the discussions confidential.
On Sunday, a group of Pakistani Americans met Imran Khan in Adiala Jail. The group also met a senior official in Islamabad.
The efforts are being made to secure some relief for Imran Khan, who is serving his sentence in the Al-Qadir Trust case and others.
It is pertinent to mention that the establishment has consistently maintained that it will not engage with politicians or political parties and insists that political matters should be resolved among the political players themselves.
