Azaad Fact Check on Tuesday debunked a false claim spread by an India-based X account.

The claim, by an India-based account, stated:

“#Pakistan Air Force Chief has requested Lockheed Martin to donate AN/TPS-77 long-range radars to rebuild the country’s air defense network, after 3 of 6 such radars were destroyed by the #IndianAirForce during Operation Sindoor in May 2025.”

According to Azaad Fact Check, no Pakistani radars were destroyed by India.

Security sources have confirmed to Azaad English that Pakistan has not made any requests for acquiring the AN/TPS-77 radars from the United States.

Azaad Fact Check has also revealed that sovereign countries cannot directly request US defence companies like Lockheed Martin for the procurement of any weapons system.

All such purchases must go through the US Department of Defense (DoD). Approved foreign military sales are always publicly listed on the DoD’s official website. There is no such request from Pakistan on record.

In addition, none of the official Indian military briefings after Operation Sindoor mentioned the destruction of any Pakistani radar systems. Many false claims were made by the Indian military and government-linked social media accounts; however, attacks on radars were not mentioned after the clash took place in May.

Furthermore, no international media outlet reported on any radar system being destroyed by India in May 2025. This claim is completely false and a made-up story.

Azaad Fact Check noted that the India-based account spreading this misinformation shows a clear lack of understanding of how US military sales work.
