President Asif Ali Zardari has tested negative for COVID-19, his physician Dr Asim confirmed on Friday after he tested positive for the virus earlier this month.
“The president has tested negative for COVID-19 on a rapid test but remains under the care of infectious disease specialists,” stated Dr Asim.
His doctor also clarified that President Asif Ali Zardari is showing signs of improvement following his medical treatment.
According to details, President is also undergoing physiotherapy and is expected to remain hospitalised for few more days.
As of now, doctors have not allowed visitors to meet President Asif Ali Zardari after he was tested positive for COVID-19 on April 2.
Following his COVID diagnosis, President Asif Ali Zardari was placed in isolation under close medical supervision.
“Infectious diseases department experts examine President Asif Zardari three times a day,” revealed Dr Asim.
His physician reiterated that shifting President Asif Ali Zardari from Nawabshah to Karachi for medical treatment was a good decision.
He also clarified that no visitors are being allowed to meet with President due to COVID-19 precautionary measure.
Earlier this month, social media was flooded with reports of declining health of President and that he was being shifted to Dubai for advanced medical treatement.
However, PPP leaders dismissed the rumours, asserting that the President would soon recover from his sickness.

Karachi Police have arrested a senior police official under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 (PECA) for online remarks against President Asif Ali Zardari.
The Sukkun police arrested the Station Investigation Officer (SIO), Abrar Shah, who was stationed at the Ibrahim Haidari police station.
Interestingly, the case was filed against Shah following a complaint of a fellow police officer, identified as duty officer Yaqoob.
SIO Abrar Shah allegedly made an objectionable social media post against the PPP leader and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on April 2.
The complaint alleged that Shah posted obscene and derogatory comments against ailing President Asif Ali Zardari on Facebook.
Duty officer also provided screenshots of those critical remarks in his official complaint.
PECA 2016 was amended by the government in 2025 which was strongly opposed by rights activists, journalists and opposition parties.
