WEBDESK: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has issued arrest warrants for 50 leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), including former President Arif Alvi.
The court took this step in connection with the November 26 protest cases.
Out of the total, 41 warrants were issued today, while 9 had already been issued earlier. All of these warrants are related to FIR No. 1193, registered at Karachi Company police station.
Among those named are Arif Alvi, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, Ahmad Niazi, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Azam Swati, Umar Ayub, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Aleema Khanum, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar and Sher Afzal Marwat.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain issued the warrants after the accused failed to appear before the court. The judge ordered that they be arrested immediately and presented in court.
It is important to mention that 32 cases related to events on 24 and 26 November were registered in the Rawalpindi Division. One of the cases involves the killing of a police constable in Taxila, in which Bushra Bibi has also been named.
