Armaghan made Rs17 billion through illegal call centre

In a shocking development, authorities have revealed that Armaghan Qureshi, the primary accused in Mustafa Amir’s murder, allegedly earned around Rs17 billion through his illegal call centre over the period of three years.

In a high-level meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO), the lawmakers were apprised about the current update of Mustafa Amir’s murder case.

National Assembly’s standing committee on Interior under the chairmanship of MNA Abdul Qadir Patel has been regularly following up on Mustafa Amir’s murder.

Committee members MNAs Syed Rafiullah, Nabeel Gabol and Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon, city police chief, senior interior ministry officials and representatives of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Excise Department and others attended the meeting.

How did Armaghan operate?

During the meeting, it was revealed that Armaghan had been running an illegal call centre aimed at defrauding foreign citizens for the last three years.

FIA officials revealed that his money was deposited in forty bank accounts which were opened in the name of his employees.

In the call centre, Armaghan had multiple employees who posed as officials of American agencies over the phone and attempted to steal information of their credit cards.

It merits a mention that the lawmakers expressed dissatisfaction over the law enforcement agencies’ performance on several issue since the beginning of this high-profile case.

Armaghan allegedly employed at least 25 employees who worked under the capacity of calling agents. Each employee had a target of defrauding at least five victims per shift.

Reportedly, each foreign victim was defrauded of $400-999, which meant that Armaghan was earning approximately $300,000 to $400,000 per month from his illegal call centre.

The FIA also alleged that he kept the illegal earnings in cryptocurrencies via platforms like Paxful and NoOnes, laundering the huge earnings.

Armaghan had reportedly assets worth approximately Rs154 million.
