Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Sunday claimed that there has been 45 percent increase in the province’s revenue and payment of Rs 50 billion in debt.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, while holding a press conference in Peshawar, said: “When we came to power, there were not even 15 days of salaries in the province. We increased our revenue by 45 percent, when we assumed power, the province was in debt of Rs 52 billion, we paid off a debt of Rs 50 billion. Our government focused on those development projects, from which revenue is being generated.”
Ali Amin Gandapur, while talking about the recent wave of terrorism, said: “I spoke as the chief executive of the province about the reasons that led to terrorism and the situation getting worse. The situation improved during Imran Khan’s tenure. The superpower was defeated in this region, political point scoring is done here.”
He further asserted, “When I talked about negotiations with Afghanistan, they made fun of me. We held jirgas, made TORs and included the leaders of the tribal districts. It has been 2 months since the TORs, to which the federation has not yet responded.”
“It is not our authority to send a jirga to Afghanistan and hold negotiations, I have sent a message to Afghanistan on my behalf through the Afghan ambassador.”
The Chief Minister said that the KP police are fighting terrorists and repelling their attacks. The salaries of the police will be increased with the NFC award, according to Gandapur.
“If we are not given our rights, this protest will be of the people and government employees. I cannot reduce Rs 1680 billion to Rs 80 billion like Pervez Khattak.”
He said that external forces and terrorist organisations are also involved in targeting scholars.
Interestingly, the CM criticised the recent government policy of expelling Afghans, saying, “We have taken Afghan refugees to our heart, every government has a policy and we have failed to make a policy.”
The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said “People are yearning for citizenship of America, Canada, and Britain, if Afghan refugees want to obtain Pakistani citizenship, what is wrong with it? It is not appropriate to expel Afghan refugees like this, I do not accept this policy.”
“This is a violation of international human rights. When these refugees come to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government will take its decision after that. I have said in every meeting that the situation in the province is not good,” the CM added.
Gandapur complained that he was not being allowed to meet with Imran Khan.
The Chief Minister warned that if any party member meets Pervez Khattak, then “they would known as turncoats because Pervez Khattak has proven to be the biggest turncoat. Pervez Khattak has left the party after enjoying everything.”
