Afghanistan Cricket team on Wednesday won against England by 8 runs in the Afghanistan vs England Champions Trophy 2025 series at Gaddafi Stadium.

Afghanistan after winning the toss elected to bat and gave the England target of 325 runs. While England’s entire team was bowled out at 317 runs in 49.5 overs.

Ibrahim Zadran’s amazing 177 runs streak with the mixture of Azmatullah Omarzai’s lethal five wicket haul enabled Afghanistan to knock England out of the Champions Trophy in the Afghanistan vs England match.

England faced early hiccups in the Afghanistan vs England match as they lost two important wickets in 6.1 overs while their score stood at just 30 runs. Phil Salt and Jamie Smith became Afghan bowlers’ victims.

However, Root made a good partnership with Ben Duckett, anchoring a 68 run until Rashid Khan made his comeback and took out Ben Duckett.

Root along with Buttler advanced the team with 83 more runs pushing the score above 200 run mark.

Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi’s decision to bat first proved fruitful for the team as it got the score at 325/7 in 50 overs.

Interestingly, Afghanistan had a shaky start as well when it chose to bat as English Jofra Archer took out Afghanistan’s top batting order with their score at 37/3 in 8.5 overs.

Hashmatullah Shahidi then joined Ibrahim leading the team’s recovery by making 10-run partnership for the fourth ticket. Shahidi fell victim to English Adil Rashid in the 30th over after he scored 40 runs on 67 balls.

With their captain gone, Ibrahim was joined by Azmatullah Omarzai with the dynamic duo making 82 runs off 63 balls. However, Omarzai got taken out at the 40th over by Jamie Overton.
