Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed has confirmed that the suicide bombers involved in the Darul Uloom Haqqania and Bannu attacks have been identified.
Addressing the media, the IGP said that CCTV footage of both incidents has been obtained, while the identification of the attackers was done through body parts recovered from the blast sites.
He further revealed that the vehicles used in the Bannu blast have been traced, and evidence of foreign-made weapons being used in the attack has also been found. Authorities are now investigating how and from which country these weapons were brought into Pakistan.
In the Bannu blast, compensation cheques of Rs1 million each have been given to the families of the 12 martyrs.
The police chief also shared that over 100 suspects involved in destabilizing the situation in Kurram have been arrested.
He admitted that terrorism has now emerged as a factor in the Kurram incidents, but assured that a special strategy has been devised to tackle the situation, and no further incidents will occur.
“We are confident that we will restore long-lasting peace in Kurram very soon. The Safe City project for Kurram has also been approved and will be completed within a few months,” IGP Hameed added.
