The Sindh Transport Department has announced an extension in the operating hours of the Peoples Bus Service during Ramazan.

According to Senior Minister Sharjeel Memon, from the 15th of Ramazan the bus service will operate until 1am. This extension will apply to buses running on R1, R2, R3, R4, R9, R10, and EV1 routes.

“We understand the challenges faced by Karachi’s citizens during Ramazan. Most of the city’s residents rely on public transport, and extending the bus timings aims to provide them with better commuting facilities,” said Memon.

He further assured that the government is committed to ensuring safe transportation for citizens, especially after shopping hours. “Providing convenient and efficient travel options for the public remains our priority,” he added.

Sharjeel Memon also emphasised that the Sindh government is taking all possible steps for public welfare and urged citizens to make the most of the extended bus service timings.

The Peoples Bus Service in Karachi is a government-sponsored service that helps in public transport services for economical and easy travel. It is run by the Sindh Mass Transit Authority, which also operates air-conditioned buses throughout the city on several routes. It serves important residential, commercial, and industrial areas, which makes it a useful service compared to private transport.

This initiative enables better urban mobility as it has designated stops with digital payment, improved safety features, and reduced traffic congestion. It is part of the Sindh government’s efforts, along with other services, to upgrade the public transport system in Karachi to more modern standards, which aid in better commuting experiences.
