ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has fixed hearings on government appeals seeking the cancellation of bail for the accused involved in the May 9 incidents. A three-member bench, led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yakhya Afridi, will hear the appeals starting from March 10.
Justice Musarrat Hilali and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb will be part of the bench.
The Punjab government has petitioned the court to revoke the bail granted to the accused.
On March 11, the Supreme Court will hear 16 appeals related to the cancellation of bail. The bench will then take up eight more appeals on March 12.
There are 57 accused of May 9 riots including PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Opposition Leader Umar Ayub, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, and others, on the list submitted by the Punjab government to the Supreme Court.

The Punjab government had previously challenged the Anti-Terrorism Court’s decision of granting bail to May 9 accused in the Lahore High Court, but it was rejected.
