KARACHI (Azaad English): Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hasan Naqvi, has issued a notification regarding the new flour & roti prices in Karachi for the month of Ramadan in order to regulate market prices.

Flour & Roti Prices:

According to the notification here are the official flour & roti prices.

The regular flour (No. 2.5) should cost Rs83 per kg wholesale and Rs. 87 per kg retail whereas fine flour amounts to Rs88 per kg wholesale and Rs. 92 per kg retail. Chakki flour is now set at Rs100 per kilogram. The current market rates differ between fine flour sold between Rs90 to Rs100 per kg and chakki flour sold from Rs110 to Rs115 per kg.

Bread-related official price lists have recently been declared. A retail portion of roti weighing 100g will cost Rs10 while Naan with 120g results in a price of Rs15. Consumers can obtain chapati at prices ranging from Rs18 to Rs20 but without weight specifications they will need to pay Rs.25 to Rs.28 for naan.

People can contact the complaint cell operated by the commissioner’s office to report pricing violations. Each day official price directories for vegetables and fruits will be posted to maintain transparency for the public.

These rates have been established by the deputy commissioners who now hold power to issue strict penalties toward retailers breaking these rate regulations. The authorities can issue both fines and make arrests as penalties for rule breaking.

Apart from flour & roti prices the government has also given relief by launching Ramadan relief package worth Rs20 billionthat would help four million deserving families. Ramadan relief package would ensure direct cash transfers of Rs5,000 through digital wallets of public.
