WEBDESK (Azaad English): Zero Day, Netflix’s highly anticipated mini tv-series, flopped with critics despite its star-studded lineup that included Robert De Niro. It received a score of 45per cent on Rotten Tomatoes.
Directed by TV veteran Lesli Linka Glatter (Love & Death) and created by Eric Newman (Narcos), Zero Day had some notable figures behind the camera. Despite the star presence and big names, Zero Day failed to live up to expectations.
The star-studded lineup includes Angela Basset, Lizzie Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Dan Stevens, and Matthew Modine.
After decades of being an A-list film actor, Robert De Niro has properly made his way to the world of television for the first time with Netflix’s Zero Day. Robert De Niro plays the role of George Mullen, an ex-president called back into service to head a commission investigating the hackers behind a nationwide computer outage that claimed thousands of lives. Despite his rare tv appearance, critics found the show to be predictable and lacking in suspense.
The series follows George Mullen as he investigates a deadly cyber-attack but gets stuck in political conspiracies and his own troubled past.
Alex Maidy from JoBlo’s Movie Network lamented that it “wastes an all-star cast with a story bogged down by misdirection.”
According to critics, the show quickly lost its plot and quickly forgot about their main mystery.
“With the show only running for six episodes, a terrible imbalance comes to the surface as the mystery is rushed to its ending,” wrote Screen Rant.
However, not all reviews were negative. Collider’s Shawn Van Horn praised its short six-episode format, saying it remains thrilling without dragging.
Zero Day is now available to stream on Netflix.
