Mobile internet services suspended across Balochistan over security concerns

Webdesk: Mobile internet services have been suspended across Balochistan, including Quetta, due to security-related concerns, according to provincial authorities.

According to officials, the suspension may remain in place until August 15.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) confirmed that mobile data services have been cut off indefinitely in several districts.

Including Kohlu, Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Pishin, Loralai, Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Nushki, and Harnai.

Authorities said the decision was taken in light of potential security threats.

Residents, however, say the internet shutdown is causing major disruptions across the province.

Students are unable to attend online classes, while freelancers and those running online businesses are facing significant difficulties.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces’ vehicle was targeted with an improvised explosive device (IED) by terrorists in Mastung district.

The blast resulted in the martyrdom of Major Muhammad Rizwan Tahir, Naik Ibn Ameen, and Lance Naik Muhammad Younis.

Security forces responded promptly and neutralised four terrorists involved in the attack.

A terrorist attack claimed the lives of three soldiers after a security forces’ vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Mastung during the night between August 5 and 6, 2025, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed.

The incident occurred while troops were on routine movement in the area.

The soldiers who embraced shahadat include Major Muhammad Rizwan Tahir, aged 31, from Narowal; Naik Ibni Amin, aged 37, from Swabi; and Lance Naik Muhammad Younas, aged 33, from Karak.

According to ISPR, Major Rizwan was known for leading numerous counter-terrorism operations and always chose to fight from the front.

In response, security forces launched an immediate sanitisation operation in the area.

Four “Fitna al Hindustan” militants responsible for the attack were traced and eliminated.

ISPR confirmed that all four were “sent to hell,” with search efforts ongoing to locate any remaining accomplices.

Troops are maintaining a presence on the ground to clear out any remaining hideouts and to prevent further attacks.

Authorities have made it clear that the operation will continue until every last link in the network is dismantled.
