Pakistan weather update: Hot, humid weather continues; rain expected in northern regions

Webdesk: The weather across most of the country is likely to remain hot and very humid today, as per Pakistan weather update.

However, some parts in the north and northeast may receive rain accompanied by winds and thunder.

According to the latest forecast, isolated areas in northeast Punjab, the Potohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir are expected to see showers, with the possibility of heavy rain at a few places.

As per the current synoptic situation, a seasonal low lies over northern Balochistan.

Weak monsoon winds are reaching the upper and central regions, while a westerly system is also affecting the northern parts of the country.

Pakistan weather update: regional forecast

Balochistan

Hot and humid conditions are expected across most of the province today, though coastal areas may remain partly cloudy. There is a chance of rain with wind and thunder in parts of Zhob, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Kohlu, Musa Khel, and nearby areas by evening or night.

Sindh

The province will continue to experience mainly hot and humid weather, especially inland. Coastal areas like Karachi may see partly cloudy skies.

Punjab

Most of Punjab will stay hot and humid. However, rain with wind and thunder is expected in several northern and northeastern districts, including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Jhelum, Chakwal, and Attock. Other places likely to receive rain are Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, Mianwali, and D.G. Khan.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Similar hot and humid conditions will prevail in most areas, but many northern and central districts may see rain with thunder and gusty winds. Rain is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kurram, and Peshawar. Along with Malakand, Swabi, Mardan, Kohat, Hangu, and Waziristan. There’s also a likelihood of heavier rainfall in the upper parts.

Islamabad

The capital is likely to experience partly cloudy skies with chances of rain, wind, and thunder during the day. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in some parts. The probability is 60 per cent.

Kashmir

Scattered rain with thunder is expected at a few places across the region. Heavy rainfall could occur in some isolated areas.

Gilgit-Baltistan

The region is expected to remain partly cloudy, with no significant rain activity forecast today.

Scattered showers with wind and thunder occurred over parts of the Potohar region, upper KP, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly areas during the past day.

Pakistan weather update: tourist advisory

Visitors heading to popular hill stations should be ready for rainy conditions throughout the week. Rain with wind and thunder is expected from Monday to Friday.

It is expected in areas like Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Murree, Galiyat, Chitral, Dir, Kalam, Malam Jabba, Naran, Kaghan, Gilgit, Hunza, and Skardu.

Heavier showers may occur on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Meanwhile, Ziarat and nearby areas are expected to remain dry and warm.
