WEBDESK: Anti-Terrorism Court has announced a major verdict in the May 9 attack on the Judicial Complex in Mianwali.
The court sentenced Muhammad Ismail, the arrested accused, to 25 years in prison. He was found guilty in connection with the attack that took place on May 9, 2023.
The court also declared 51 other individuals as proclaimed offenders (wanted persons), including Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar, Bilal Ijaz, and Ahmed Chattha. The police have been ordered to arrest them and present them before the court within a month.
In a related case involving corruption, another accused was handed a 29-year prison sentence with hard labour, along with a fine of 2 million rupees.
Separately, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Faisalabad sentenced several political figures to 10 years in prison each. These include Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Shibli Faraz, and Hamid Raza, in verdicts issued across three different May 9 cases.
The court had already issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Omar Ayub in an earlier hearing.
These verdicts come as part of a wider crackdown on those accused of being involved in violent protests and attacks on government buildings following political unrest.
