Azaad fact check: fake video falsely links officer's suspension to Tirah incident

Webdesk: Azaad Fact Check has found a fake video that is being shared on several social media platforms regarding the recent Tirah incident.

The video wrongly claims that a Frontier Corps (FC) member, shown as a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police officer, was suspended because of the recent events in Tirah Valley.

The investigation shows that the suspension order was actually issued on July 21. Which was before the Tirah incident took place.

It also confirms that the order was for a KPK police officer, not an FC member, as falsely claimed in the video. The video is spreading misinformation by linking unrelated events and misidentifying people.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the recent terrorist firing on unarmed civilians in Tirah Valley. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and extending heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.

He also instructed the authorities to provide immediate medical help to the injured. This attack took place during a demonstration, and it caused several casualties.

This prompted a high-level jirga in the region. It was led by civil and military leaders, as well as local elders. Where it condoled and pledged to investigate transparently.

After the incident, Major General Rao Imran Sartaj, Inspector General Frontier Corps North, visited the hospital to meet the injured.

Victims verified during his visit that they had been attacked by terrorists. They also thanked him for the medical attention they were receiving.

The IG expressed satisfaction with the treatment facilities. While the injured voiced their continued support for the Pakistan Army and FC North in the face of this cowardly act.

An attempt is being made to spread propaganda around the recent Tirah incident. It is deeply shameful to exploit the loss of innocent lives to serve a malicious agenda.

False rumours are circulated on social media and elsewhere, usually without confirmation, and are often viral and distorted.

Remaining linked with credible sources will help to provide the audience with the correctly framed, timely, and responsible information.
