Webdesk: Rains accompanied by wind and thunder are expected today across parts of Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, as per the latest Pakistan weather update.
Elsewhere in the country, hot and very humid weather conditions are likely to persist.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a warning highlighting the possibility of heavy rain causing flash floods in streams and local waterways.
It is for areas such as Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Tank, South Punjab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Murree, Galliyat and Kashmir.
The department also warned that strong winds, lightning and heavy showers could pose risks to vulnerable structures such as mud houses, boundary walls, solar panels, electric poles, billboards, and parked vehicles.
At present, a seasonal low lies over northeast Balochistan, while monsoon currents are entering the upper and central regions of the country. Additionally, a westerly weather system remains active in the northern parts.
Pakistan weather update: regional forecast
Balochistan
Hot and humid conditions are likely across most of the province today. However, light showers and thunderstorms may occur in isolated areas, including Barkhan, Musakhel, Zhob, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Awaran and nearby locations.
Punjab
Scattered rain, winds, and thunderstorms are forecast in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Chakwal, Attock, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Sialkot.
Additionally in Sheikhupura, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Okara, Sargodha, Mianwali, Faisalabad, Jhang, and Chiniot.
Meanwhile, heavier downpours and thunder activity are expected in Khushab, DG Khan, Layyah, Bhakkar, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Kot Addu, Pakpattan, Vehari, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, and Lodhran.
Sindh
The province will remain mostly hot and humid. There’s a chance of isolated rain and thunderstorms in Tharparkar, Umerkot, and some coastal parts during the evening or night.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Several districts, including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Kohistan, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Malakand, Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar, Bajaur, Mohmand and Kurram.
Additionally in Khyber, Orakzai, Kohat, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, DI Khan, Waziristan, and Tank, are likely to receive showers with gusty winds and thunder.
Gilgit-Baltistan
The region is expected to remain mostly cloudy with chances of rainfall and thunderstorms throughout the day.
Kashmir
The weather is expected to stay cloudy with rain, winds, and thunder in most parts. Heavy rainfall is also possible, which could lead to dangerous conditions in flood-prone areas.
Islamabad
The federal capital will see partly cloudy skies with a 40% chance of rain and thunderstorms during the day.

Advisory for tourists
From Friday through Tuesday, scattered rain and thunder are expected in areas popular with tourists, including Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Murree, Galliyat, Chitral, Dir, Kalam, and Malam Jabba.
Additionally in Naran, Kaghan, Gilgit, Hunza, and Skardu.On Friday, there are also possible showers in Ziarat, however, the days after Saturday are expected to be dry and hot.
During this time, heavy rainfall may occur and visitors should avoid mountain routes, steep trails, and flooding areas at this time.
Travellers are advised to be informed of the current weather alerts and have alternative routes in place. Downloading the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert app is also advised for real-time updates.
