LPG price slashed by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority for August 2025, cutting the consumer rate for an 11.8 kg cylinder to Rs2,541.36.
The change, effective 1 August, trims Rs209.24 or 7.6 percent from July’s price of Rs2,750.60 and offers households some relief amid persistent inflation.
The producer price has also been reduced to Rs174,069.26 per ton, a drop of Rs17,732.75 from last month.
On a per kilogram basis, LPG now costs Rs17.73 less than it did in July.
LPG price slashed: global benchmark falls despite steady rupee
OGRA attributes the decline mainly to a 9.8 percent slide in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price, the benchmark that guides local LPG rates.
A slight 0.38 percent uptick in the average dollar exchange rate was not enough to offset the global price drop, allowing the regulator to pass the benefit on to consumers.
For a typical household, the lower cylinder price translates to a direct saving that will be felt in cooking fuel expenses throughout the month.
Small eateries and off grid businesses that rely on LPG for heating and cooking are also set to gain from the reduction.
The detailed notification, including wholesale and distributor margins, is available on OGRA’s website.
The regulator said it will continue to monitor international markets and exchange rate movements ahead of the next monthly review.
With the LPG price slashed and inflation still a key concern, the latest adjustment provides a welcome, if modest, cushion for households heading into peak summer consumption.
