Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has said that he welcomes the decisions in the May 9 cases and wants the rule of law in the country.
Talking about the decision of the Anti-Terrorism Court, the Information Minister said, “The desecration of martyrs’ monuments and attacks on the offices of defense institutions are a victory for the law and the justice system in this country.”
Attaullah Tarar said that the offices of defense institutions in Faisalabad were vandalized.
“The videos show who the people were who went to the defense installations. The mastermind of all this is the founder of PTI, who is currently in jail.”
He added that whenever the enemy dreamed of attacking, we responded with a befitting reply.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that in the future, no one will try to commit heinous acts like May 9; these people carry the enemy’s narrative.
An anti-terrorism court in Faisalabad has sentenced 108 individuals, including senior PTI leaders Umar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, and Zartaj Gul, in connection with two cases related to the May 9 violence.
According to details, the court announced verdicts in cases involving 185 accused. Out of these, 108 were convicted, while 77 were acquitted. Strict security arrangements were in place inside and outside the courtroom.
Umar Ayub, Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, and MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza were each sentenced to 10 years in prison. Ali Afzal Sahi received a 3-year jail sentence. Meanwhile, Fawad Chaudhry, Khayal Kastro, and Zain Qureshi were acquitted.
