Webdesk: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has called an urgent meeting of its Board of Governors (BoG) for 8:00 PM tonight, as rising tensions with India cast a shadow over the ongoing World Championship of Legends (WCL).
Sources say PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will chair the session, with most board members expected to join virtually.
The move comes amid a growing row following India’s refusal to play Pakistan during the tournament in England.
The two teams were due to clash in both the group stage and semi-final. But India chose to forfeit each time rather than take the field against Pakistan.
The matter has stirred political and sporting controversy, renewing discussions about the impact of politics on international competitions.
Insiders told the media that the board will examine the situation in detail during tonight’s session.
A key outcome of the meeting could be a formal policy statement setting out Pakistan’s position on future match boycotts or refusals by any team, particularly ahead of the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.
The incident has also raised broader concerns about Pakistan’s treatment in multi-national events and its ability to compete on equal terms.
While the standoff with India is expected to dominate the agenda, the meeting will also include updates on wider cricketing matters.
These include recent developments within the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), with the board due to hear a detailed briefing on proposals and decisions discussed at the latest ICC sessions.
Sources say issues such as future hosting rights and changes to the international fixtures calendar may be covered.
Meanwhile, Chairman Naqvi is also likely to discuss the PCB’s long-term strategy, potential series with other nations, and ongoing internal governance issues.
With Pakistan’s place in international cricket under increasing scrutiny, the meeting is being seen as a key moment in shaping how the board responds to challenges on both sporting and diplomatic fronts.
