WEBDESK: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran khan has reportedly told his sons not to come to Pakistan.
Sources say Imran Khan has advised his sons, Qasim and Suleman, to stay away from the country.
The two sons had planned to travel to Pakistan to support their father and join a campaign for his release.
Earlier, Qasim and Suleman had travelled from the UK to the United States. There, they held meetings with members of the US Congress.
Several PTI leaders, including Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, lawyer Salman Akram Raja, and Senator Barrister Ali Zafar, had confirmed the sons were coming to Pakistan.
Aleema Khan had said that Imran Khan told the family that his sons had a right to raise their voice for their father.
Barrister Ali Zafar said the sons were only coming to meet their father, not to hold any rallies near Adiala Jail.
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, also supported their visit. He said political revenge is damaging Pakistan’s image globally. He added that talking about arresting the sons is shameful.
Information Minister Ataullah Tarar welcomed the idea of their visit. He said the sons have a right to speak for their father. However, he added that they must also tell the world that their father was jailed in a mega corruption case involving £190 million. He claimed that Imran Khan failed to provide any evidence in his defence.
