Former diplomat Dr Maleeha Lodhi has a public meltdown over Pakistan’s decision to honour Commander of United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), General Michael E. Kurilla.
In a tweet, she falsely claimed that the top general is Israel’s favourite US general and the most pro-Israel general in the American military” when in reality he has always advocated Pakistan perspective.
According to her, “he is widely credited by the US media for overseeing US military support for Israel in its war on Gaza. He was also an advocate for Israel’s attack on Iran”.

A day earlier, the Government of Pakistan conferred the prestigious award of Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military) upon General Michael E. Kurilla.
The Government of Pakistan conferred this award to Gen Kurilla in recognition of his exemplary service and pivotal role in advancing enduring military cooperation between Pakistan and the United States.
President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the military decoration upon him at a formal ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
On June 10, 2025, he described Pakistan as America’s excellent partner against terrorism during a congress hearing.
According to the CENTCOM Chief, Pakistan played a major role in apprehending the terrorist behind the 2021 Abbey Gate Bombing in Afghanistan, which killed more than 170 people, including multiple US service members.
Under Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership, Pakistan and US ties have strengthened significantly, with the US recognising Pakistan’s main role as a security provider in the region.
During his visit, General Michael E. Kurilla held detailed meetings with senior Pakistani civil and military leadership, including the President of Pakistan and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
Discussions encompassed regional security, military-to-military engagement, and joint efforts to combat terrorism and emerging transnational threats.
