WEBDESK: Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat has shared a heartwarming fan moment on Instagram, highlighting the massive public response to her hit drama Dayan.
In the video clip, fans especially women are seen cheering loudly and shouting, “Dayan super super hit drama!” The actress reshared the video to show her gratitude. She thanked fans for their love and support.
Mehwish Hayat plays a bold and complex role in Dayan, which is a supernatural thriller. The show has become a major hit on TV. It also stars Ahsan Khan and Hira Mani, among others.
Dayan marks Mehwish Hayat’s big return to television after nearly nine years. She plays Nihaal, who later becomes Misha – a woman with a mission and a mysterious aura. Her character uses a new identity to expose dark secrets and family betrayal.
The drama is directed by Siraj‑ul‑Haq and written by Fatima Faizan and Amber Azhar. It premiered on 24 February 2025.
While fans praised the drama and her performance, some questioned how Mehwish Hayat’s character wasn’t recognised after changing her look. In an interview with Maliha Rehman, the actress said the creative team took some liberty with the story.
She explained that her character had changed her hair, clothes, and overall appearance. She also said that Zawar’s family had believed Nihaal was dead, so they never expected her to return.
Mehwish Hayat also talked about how hard it emotionally was to film some of the scenes. Some of them were played in graveyards and other haunted places which were very real and strong.
The fans are still stuck to Dayan regardless of their divided thought. Its cinematographic style and the solid female protagonist are being highly acclaimed by many.
