Webdesk: Most areas in these regions are expected to receive off-and-on rain, along with wind and thunderstorms throughout the day. Some places may experience heavy to very heavy downpours at intervals, according to todays weather update.
Light rain, wind and isolated thunderstorms are also likely in parts of central and southern Punjab, as well as in sections of northeastern and southern Balochistan.
Due to the expected intense rain, there is a high chance of flash flooding in local streams and nullahs across several areas including Kashmir, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, the Pothohar region, northeast Punjab, D.G. Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and various districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Murree, Galliyat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Swabi, Nowshera and Mardan.
In hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, landslides or mudslides could disrupt road travel. People living or travelling in these areas should remain alert and follow local advisories.
In low-lying parts of cities like Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Peshawar and Islamabad/Rawalpindi, heavy rainfall might result in waterlogging or urban flooding. Residents are advised to stay cautious and avoid unnecessary movement.
Strong winds may damage vulnerable structures such as electric poles, trees, solar panels, parked vehicles and standing crops. The public is urged to secure loose items and remain alert during the stormy conditions.
