Azaad Digital has exposed an India-based X account for sharing a fake video—originally from Indonesia— to spread propaganda against Pakistan.

The account, named Baba Banaras, posted a clip claiming it showed Pakistan Army’s brigade headquarters in Azaad Kashmir under attack by India, calling it an “unseen” video of the strike.

However, the post failed to gain views. Instead, users mocked the account, saying India is still stuck in its Operation Sindoor fantasy.

Azaad Fact Check later confirmed that the video was actually from Jabar, Indonesia, and had been recorded on March 30th, 2024 so it is not Pakistan.

It is pertinent to mention that such propaganda is not new. Almost every day, Indian accounts circulate fake news targeting Pakistan, misleading their own people in the process.

Earlier, China and Pakistan announced plans to launch joint broadcasting projects and exchange digital influencers, reaffirming the growing importance of the Pakistan China media partnership in tackling fake news and disinformation.

It was decided after a meeting in Beijing between Pakistan Minister of information and broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Cao Shumin, Deputy Head of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The meeting also addressed plans for a formal agreement between PTV and China Central Television (CCTV) to promote the exchange of content and expertise.
