Pakistan and China have agreed to strengthen joint media efforts. The aim is to counter fake news and disinformation.

The decision was made during a meeting in Beijing. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, met China’s Vice Minister of Publicity, Cao Shumin. She also heads the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA).

Both sides stressed the need to build a shared media narrative. They also discussed the importance of technical training and institutional links.

The two leaders talked about a proposed agreement. This agreement would increase information sharing between CCTV and PTV. The goal is to create joint content, media exchanges, and stronger institutional ties.

Minister Tarar said Pakistan wants to turn media cooperation into real projects. He said that PTV, Radio Pakistan, and APP help tell China’s story in Pakistan. They also promote the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.

Tarar said PTV broadcasts Chinese content in Urdu. He also said APP runs a China News Service to share Pakistan’s views in Chinese media.

The meeting also covered youth engagement and digital media. Tarar noted how Pakistani and Chinese youth showed unity on social media during recent tensions with India. He said this showed strong public support between both countries.

The ministers also supported mutual visits by social media influencers. Tarar said these exchanges could help bring new life to bilateral ties.

Cao Shumin said China sees Pakistan as a trusted media partner. She said sharing media experience would help both sides grow closer.

Both countries agreed that media and cultural exchanges are key. They said public diplomacy would help expand the friendship between the two nations.
