WEBDESK: Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has unleashed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, declaring him as the worst Prime Minister to have ever led India, and blamed the BJP-led government of authoritarianism, division and promoting hate with the pretext of democracy.

Aiyar, according to sources, criticised the Modi government of plunging India into an internal crisis by sustaining what he termed as extremist Hindutva policies.

He asserted that the leadership of Modi has brought forth elevated polarisation, subjugation of democratic institutions, and become unfriendly to minorities, especially the Muslims.

Referring to Modi’s re-election, Aiyar said, “More than half of Hindus and two-thirds of the Indian population have rejected Modi.

He came to power with just one-third of the vote and has become the most authoritarian leader India has seen.”

He further accused the Modi government of fostering a culture of lies and manipulating national security for political gain.

“Indian youth have been taught to escape responsibilities by hiding behind false patriotism and warmongering against Pakistan,” he added.

Islamophobia on the rise: 110 of Modi’s 159 campaign speeches were Anti-Muslim

Aiyar alleged that out of 159 speeches delivered by Modi during the last general election campaign, 110 directly targeted Muslims, further deepening social divisions.

He also held the BJP responsible for laying the groundwork for the demolition of the Babri Masjid and promoting a dangerous ideology through slogans like “One Nation, One Language, One Culture, One Election,” which he said goes against India’s diverse cultural fabric.

The Congress leader said that under Modi, India has been dragged into a political climate dominated by temples, mosques, and religious hatred. “The BJP has compromised India’s cultural values to promote its Hindutva agenda. What we are seeing today is dictatorship, hatred, and extremism wrapped in the mask of democracy,” Aiyar stated.

Failed diplomacy and ‘India’s worst Prime Minister’

Previously, in a sharp critique of India’s recent foreign policy and military manoeuvring, The Wire has exposed what it describes as a major diplomatic and strategic failure for Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the collapse of Operation Sindoor.

The report reveals that the much-publicised “multi-alliance” approach not only failed to gain traction but also left India without any clear backing from major global powers. Contrary to New Delhi’s expectations, no influential nation voiced open support for India during the conflict.

According to The Wire, China took a decisive stance alongside Pakistan during Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, reportedly offering air defence assistance and satellite-based intelligence to Islamabad.

The report further claims that Beijing hinted at retaliatory measures, including the possibility of restricting Brahmaputra River flows, in response to India’s perceived violations of the Indus Waters Treaty.

On the diplomatic front, India’s lobbying campaign at the United Nations Security Council is said to have produced no tangible outcomes. The official UN press release made no reference to Pakistan or any militant organisations, effectively nullifying India’s narrative.

Additionally, India’s assertions of military superiority reportedly failed to convince international analysts. Observers noted that Pakistan appeared to have the upper hand in both strategy and execution on the battlefield.

In an unexpected development, former US President Donald Trump weighed in on the situation, complicating India’s position further. Trump raised the Kashmir issue on international platforms and praised Pakistan’s leadership, reportedly in tandem with CENTCOM chief General Michael Kurilla.
