Pakistan weather update: Rain hits north, heatwave persists in south, central regions

Webdesk: On Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, the weather in Pakistan is expected to be cloudy with a temperature of 79°F, experiencing low precipitation and mild wind according to latest Pakistan weather update.

As of today, the weather in Pakistan is cloudy with a temperature of 26°C. There is a low chance of precipitation at 5 per cent, humidity is at 89 per cent, and the wind is blowing at 4 mph.

The temperature is expected to fluctuate throughout the day, reaching a high of 82°F around 3 PM before gradually decreasing to 75°F by 6 AM on Wednesday.

According to National Weather Forecasting Centre the weather alert for July 7th and 8th shows

  • Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to trigger flash flooding in local streams and nullahs across Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, the hill torrents of D.G. Khan, northeast Punjab, Kashmir, and several parts of Balochistan including Barkhan, Kohlu, Musa Khel, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Bolan, Zhob, Ziarat, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran, and Lasbela.
  • There is a risk of landslides and mudslides in vulnerable mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat and Kashmir, which could lead to road closures during the spell of heavy rain.
  • Urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, and Peshawar due to intense downpours.
  • The general public is strongly advised to take all necessary precautionary measures and stay updated during this wet weather spell.
Pakistan weather update: Major cities

Karachi will see partly cloudy skies today. Temperatures are expected to reach 32°C during the day and dip to 29°C at night. Due to high humidity, it may feel more like 40°C.

Winds will come from the southwest at 19 km/h. The UV index remains very high at 10, so precautions against sun exposure are advised.

Lahore is likely to receive light rain, with daytime temperatures peaking at 30°C and dropping to 27°C overnight. However, it might feel as warm as 38°C.

Winds from the east will blow at around 10 km/h. The UV index is moderate at 3, offering a bit of comfort compared to hotter days.

Multan will stay mostly cloudy with a high of 36°C and a low of 29°C. Due to intense heat and humidity, it could feel as hot as 48°C.

Winds from the southwest at 18 km/h are expected, while the UV index will be at a moderate level of 4.

Peshawar will have partly cloudy weather, with a daytime high of 31°C and a nighttime low of 26°C. It may feel like 40°C due to humidity.

Winds from the northeast at 10 km/h are expected, and the UV index is very high at 9, so sun protection is recommended.

Islamabad is expected to see rainfall throughout the day. The high will be around 28°C and the low about 24°C, but it could feel like 34°C.

Pakistan weather update: Extended update

Winds will blow from the east at 13 km/h. The UV index is high at 6, so a mix of rain and some sun is likely.

Looking ahead, the forecast for the rest of the week indicates a mix of rain and clouds.

Wednesday is expected to have scattered thunderstorms with a high of 83°F and a low of 73°F.

Thursday will see partly cloudy skies with a high of 81°F and a low of 72°F.

From Friday through Monday, there’s a consistent forecast of scattered thunderstorms, with temperatures generally ranging from highs in the mid-to-high 80s to lows in the mid-70s.

The following Tuesday is predicted to be partly cloudy with a high of 86°F and a low of 77°F.
