WEBDESK: In yet another shocking example of state neglect and moral decay in Modi’s India, 42 senior citizens were rescued from a notorious Noida old age home operating in horrifying conditions in Sector 112.
The so-called facility, Anand Niketan Vridha Seva Ashram, was found to be functioning without a licence, registration, or any legal oversight. What authorities uncovered behind its doors has horrified the nation and exposed the disgraceful state of elderly care in India.
Elderly residents at the Noida old age home were discovered naked, locked inside dark, basement-like rooms, deprived of basic hygiene, light, dignity, and medical care. Many of the victims were too frail to move, lying on cold concrete floors, surrounded by filth, disoriented and severely malnourished.
According to officials, the rescue operation was carried out after public complaints and tip-offs. Shocking footage from the Noida old age home scene has now gone viral across Indian social media, showing the horrifying human rights abuses happening just outside the capital, under the nose of both local and central authorities.
Among the victims of the elderly, some have been reported to be left behind or left in the Noida old age home by their respective families thinking that they would be taken care of and given shelter. As a matter of fact, they would be held in prison, forgotten and left unattended to with their families not knowing about the anguish and the lack of provisions they had to endure.
Despite the scale of the abuse, there had been no monitoring, no inspection, and no accountability. The government’s complete failure to regulate or even track such facilities raises serious questions about India’s treatment of its most vulnerable citizens.
This is not an isolated incident, but a reflection of a system that has failed its elders, its poor, and its abandoned. In a country where billions are spent on military parades, digital propaganda, and empty slogans, the elderly rot in darkness and squalor.
