As Israel hits Iran, Pakistanis express gratitude for being nuclear power

Israel hits Iran

Following the multiple deadly Israeli airstrikes targeting military and nuclear facilities deep inside Iran, Pakistani social media users express gratitude and celebrate Pakistan’s nuclear power.

On June 13, Israel initiated an operation against Iran called, “Operation Rising Lion” – aimed at crippling Iran’s nuclear programme and targeting high-level military leadership.

Key targets, including the Natanz uranium enrichment facility, ballistic missile production sites, and military command centers, were hit in the attack.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned what he called an ‘unprovoked’ attack by Israel on Iran. In a statement shared on his official account on X (formerly Twitter), the premier expressed his sympathies to the Iranian people over the reported loss of lives.

“I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, today’s unprovoked attack on Iran by Israel. I convey my deepest sympathies to the Iranian people on the loss of lives in this attack,” the prime minister wrote.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has strongly condemned Israel’s reported attack on Iran, describing it as an unjustified and blatant breach of Iran’s sovereignty.

“Strongly condemn unjustified Israeli attacks on Islamic Republic of Iran, which is a brazen violation of Iran’s sovereignty,” the foreign minister wrote.

Amidst the Israeli attack deep inside Iran, Pakistani social media users celebrate and express jubilation over Pakistan’s strong nuclear deterrent, which has protected Pakistan.

Pakistan, under immense international pressure in 1998, conducted a series of nuclear tests on May 28, 1998, in the Chagai District of Balochistan.

Youm-e-Takbir is celebrated as a national day in Pakistan on 28 May in commemoration of Chagai-I and Chagai-II series of nuclear tests. The nuclear tests made Pakistan the seventh nation to possess nuclear weapons and the first in the Muslim world.
