We don’t have a narrative, we have the reality to share: Hina Rabbani Khar

Hina Rabbani Khar

A nine-member multiparty delegation from Pakistan is in the United States. The delegation aims to present Pakistan’s position on the recent tensions with India.

The delegation includes Federal Ministers Dr. Musadik Malik, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Sherry Rehman, Minister of State Hina Rabbani Khar, Senator Faisal Sabzwari, former Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua, and former Ambassador to the U.S. and EU, Jalil Abbas Jilani.

Speaking at the Middle East Institute, Hina Rabbani Khar said, “We don’t have a narrative, we have the reality to share.” She said Pakistan is not interested in propaganda but wants the world to understand ground realities.

Khar said the international community must look into India’s recent actions. These include strikes inside Pakistan and the violation of diplomatic norms.

Bilawal Bhutto also addressed the gathering. He warned that India’s actions are putting future generations of both countries at risk.

He said India’s decision to unilaterally suspend the Indus Waters Treaty is dangerous. According to him, it is illegal and can be considered a form of “hydro-terrorism.”

Bilawal said water is a basic right of people. He said India is using it as a weapon. He added that this could create permanent hostility between the two nations.

The delegation said they are not in Washington to complain but to inform. They also met with members of the U.S. Congress and other stakeholders.

They said Pakistan is committed to peace. But any peace must be based on fairness and respect for international agreements.

The delegation will continue its meetings in Washington throughout the week. They plan to meet think tanks, civil society, and media outlets.
